I hate freezing rain ...
This morning when I went out to the car to head to work, it was covered in ice. The driveway was covered in ice. I skated over to the car, broke up the ice on the door, got the thning strarted and scraped the ice away. I had about a 1/2 inch of ice on the car. The roads weren't all the bad, but still slick in some spots. Driving down the interstate, the ice kept building up in the windshield, which forced me to stop a couple of times to clean it and clean the wipers. Yuck.
I'm tired of hearing about the estimated cost of the 55th Presidential Inaguration of George W. Bush. The inaguration is important. It celebrates democracy. We must show to the world that we celebrate freedom. Yeah, the costs are going up. What can you name in which the price has gone down? Clinton's 1992 inaguration cost $33 million, and his 1997 inaguration cost $30 million. Besides, almost the entire bill is footed by private donations. You know what? The same companies that donate to the presidential inaguration are the same ones donating to the tsunami relief effort. Get over it!
I'm also tired of hearing about President Bush not responding "fast enough". I'm tired of hearing that President Bush took 7 minutes on the morning of 9/11 to remove himself from the classroom to "deal" with the issue of the attacks. I'm tired of hearing about how it took President Bush 3 days to speak publicly about the tsunami tragedy. You know what? I want a leader who thoroughly thinks through issues and how to tackle them. Do you honestly think for 7 minutes or 3 days that he just "hid" from the issue? Do you honestly think that President Bush thought these two issues were not important? Come on. Gimme a break! The President has pressures beyond any of our grasps. I want someone to think things out and then attack the issue head on. Picture this ... you're in a job interview, all the experts advise you to take a moment, think about the question, and then answer it. Well, these two issues were huge issues that takes some time to think through. The last thing I want is a President simply coming out right away for the spotlight to say "I feel your pain". I want someone to come out and say what's going to be done after the problem has been analyized. Get over it.
Oh, by the way, I heard on the radio today that private donations via the internet in the USA has exceeded $350 million. Hmmmm, let's see. $350 from the US government, $350 from the citizens of the US ... Is the US still stingy?
